I tried to warm up the radio today and measure the temperature by transmitting CQ on FT8. Unfortunately after about 20min the radio crashed with TX on and this happened twice.
Power 5W, external 12[V] power supply. The temperature reached 45 degrees.

Inside, it is certainly much higher. If this is the case, doesn't it risk exploding the battery?
The manual says: "Do not place the device in a place where the temperature is higher than 60°C; otherwise, the battery pack may rupture or catch fire."
The radio has only worked for 20min and I'm sure it will heat up even more.
The room ambient temperature when testing was About 25 degrees Celsius.

Many thanks for providing these thermal camera shots.
Imho, the results are sort of "catastophic"! To say the least!
I had considered of buying this radio.
Then read about "fans" needed to cool down the radio! WTH!
Then saw your thermal camera photos.
What a crappy thermal design for a 10 Watts radio!
XIEGU should take some introductory lessons (1st University Semester)
about "Thermal Design".
The Unit itself could have been appealing, but with such kind of a very
major flaw, it's just an absolute "no-go" for me.
